Garden Report

I have not been to the Hastings apartment for over 2 weeks. We have been staying in the city because I have to get up so early for my job which, is downtown. Rich goes back to Hastings 2 or 3 times per week. Last week Rich said that when he got home and looked at the plants, they were all wilted and had fallen over. They hadn't had water for over 4 days and its really, really hot out. Rich gave them a good soaking of water and after a few hours, they all came back...PHEW !

Here is what we have as of today:
22 little green tomatos (on 6 tomato plants).
17 green (they will turn red), hot peppers.
16 big bushy basil plants
6 cucumbers (one really big one).
14 large mint plants with lots of fragrent mint leaves.

Only the eggplant has nothing right now. It does have about 20 yellow flowers so I don't think it will be too long till we some eggplants growing.

So thats it. Still working my a-- off. Today makes 9 days straight 12 hours per day. I did hire someone new today. I hope that she learns fast, is a good worker and stays with us. I need a day off (vacation), bigtime !

Work, Work, Work, Work.....

is all I ever do anymore....I'm doing my best to help my parents with their laundry business but I really need to train someone else to handle the customers so I can get some time off and relax. From June 27 to July 3rd, I worked 7 days straight for 12 hours per day...Thats right 84 hours ! It is so hot in that little shop and the work is demanding...Lifting heavy bags of clothes and dealing with rude customers...

I did have Monday July 4th off so Rich and I went out on Sunday night...Charlie and Michele had a party at ther house in Brooklyn...It was fun but we drank way, way too much...Danced, Played with their cats and saw some friends.

Monday, we slept late, then we took a long, long walk along the Hudson River down to Battery Park hoping to catch the free Yo La Tengo concert. But when we finally got there, there was this HUGE, never-ending line of people waiting to get in. I mean literally thousands. Rich and I were in no mood to wait so we went back home.

We did go over to Earl's and ate some barbeque ribs and drank some beer. After that we walked over to the FDR Drive to watch the Macy's Fireworks Show. It rocked ! I was happy to get to bed, because I had to wake up at 6:30am on Tuesday to go back to work.

By the way, Rich promised that he would suprise me with a "Shack Burger" from Shake Shack. I'm Waiting.......... :)

Getting ready to go out July 3rd.
