Last Saturday, Pabla invited Rich and I to her nephew Pipe's birthday party. The main attraction for the kids was the breaking of the Pinata. As the Pinata was hoisted all of the kids got really excited. Pipe (the birthday boy), wast the first to go. Pipe spun around and around, frantically trying to swat the Buzz Lightyear Pinata, but he could not break it. Several other kids also took their turns until one of the girls took a mighty swat and busted the Pinata open. The kids swarmed as fast as they could to gather all of the candy and toys.
Later, the adults went inside to listen to music, drink beer, tequilla and the traditional Colombian Agardiente. CumpleaƱos felices Pipe ! Fieista muy Bueno !
On Sunday, Rich and I chilled out in Hastings. We cooked, made some soup and bowtie pasta with homemade pesto. We ended the day with two movies.... Hide and Seek and The Motorcycle Diaries....And back to the grind on Monday...

Weekend in the garden, Bear Mountain and Dining out in Hastings
On Friday night we took the train up to our place in Hastings-on-Hudson where we stayed all weekend. Spent some time in the garden cutting basil, tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers. Made lots of pesto (in Rich's crappy blender). We also made some really nice salads.
Sunday we took a drive up to Bear Mountain. We went out to eat each night at a restaurant in Hastings. Here is where we ate...
Friday: Harvest on Hudson
Saturday: Maud's Tavern
Sunday: Tony's Steak and Seafood. (No web site).

Garden Report 2
Overall, the porch garden seems to be doing pretty well. We now have some red tomatoes growing on the vines, 2 medium size eggplants, tons and tons of basil, lots of fresh mint, dozens of super hot little red peppers and we have picked about 8 cucumbers which are amazingly fresh and cool to eat !
